Quaking aspens are slender deciduous trees famous for their flat leaf stems that cause the leaves to “quake” in even the slightest breeze. They are one of the most widespread tree species in North America, often forming large colonies connected by a shared root system. In autumn, quaking aspens put on a striking display as their leaves turn a brilliant golden yellow.
