Eastern Black Walnut is a large, deciduous tree native to North America, known for its dark, high value hardwood and edible nuts. It grows 50 to 75 feet tall with a straight trunk and an open, rounded crown. The tree produces round, green husked nuts in the fall. Black Walnut prefers deep, well drained soils and supports wildlife, but its roots release juglone, which can inhibit the growth of some nearby plants.
