A workshop will be held at Jumer’s Hotel in Rock Island to discuss erosion and sediment control on area construction sites on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015. The workshop will run from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Topics include NPDES permit updates from IL EPA AND the Iowa DNR, a review of local ordinances by city and county officials on both sides of the river, plus best management practices used on construction sites. The latest updates to the Illinois Urban Manual will also be discussed.
Erosion and sediment control is a big topic as landowners try to limit soil movement from construction sites to meet state and local requirements. Because the Quad Cities has a direct connection with the Mississippi River, anything the local community can do to keep sediment out of the river will improve water quality.
This workshop is geared towards those that are implementing a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) or looking for best management practices for their SWPPP. Target audience includes engineering firms developing SWPPP’s, construction companies implementing SWPPP’s on projects where NPDES permits apply, and developers of current or future projects with NPDES permits.
Speakers include Seva Iwinski from Applied Polymer Systems on Anionic Polymer Enhanced Technologies, Dan Snyder from Hanes Geo on Transition mats and inlet protection devices, and Kara Downin from Knox Co SWCD on Groundcover options. Matt Hanauer from the IL Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts will discuss updates to the IL Urban Manual.
