The Rock Island County Soil and Water Conservation District will host a Cover Crop Meeting and Field Tour near Reynolds, on Wednesday, June 25th from 5 to 7. A complimentary meal will be served at 5PM and the program will start at 5:30. The program includes a discussion with farmers who planted cover crops in 2013, the results of RISWCD cover crop demo plots. Regional Cover Crop Specialist, Dean Oswald, will discuss cover crop seeding and species options. A tour of the fall cover crop on the corn and soybean fields will follow the machine shed program. The event will be held at Brian Parkinson’s farm, located ½ mile west and 1 ½ mile north of Reynolds. The entrance is near the junction of 169th Ave W and 84th St W; watch for signs directing to the event.
